May 8th The Black Forest

Today we are in the Black Forest of Germany.  We are staying in Hinterzarten.   It is one of the big training facilities for their Olympic Ski Jumpers.  They have 4 ski jumps just like on the winter olympics.  We visited the Furtwangen Clock Museum that was very interesting.  They had everything from hour glasses and sun dials to the most modern watches and clocks and everything in between.  A lot of the stuff you see on Antiques Road Show.  We left there and went to the Triberg Waterfall.  The one mile walk down hill was OK.  It was the one mile walk up that sam hill that kicked out patoots.  I'm tellin ya that hill was steeeeeeep.  We went into the city of Triberg to look for coo-coo clocks.  Well that didn't go so well because most of the places were closed on Sunday.   Their are so many differnt types of clocks it's hard to decide on one.  So we got their web sight and we will make that decision online, and not have to carry it back.  We found another of those luge places and Nonette rode the luge.  This one really looked scary but Nonette is tough and she let er rip.  See the action pics.  The highlight of the day was a walk through the Black Forest  between the villages of St. Margen and St. Peter.  See the pics of this beautiful country.  The Black Forest is not the pretty part; it's the valleys between the trees that are beautiful.

Tomorrow were are crossing the border into France where we will visit the Alsace Wine Country.

Check back tomorrow for more hillbillies on holiday.
