May 10th Rothenburg, Germany

Rothenburg, Germany is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe.  The original city wall still encircles the old town.  The wall has a walkway with a roof and you can walk around the old town and look out the arrow loops just like the guys in the 1400's.  There are about 4 entrances to the old town, each with its own tower and 2 gates.  If you were attacking and you got inside the first gate, you had to deal with the guys with bows and arrows, rocks, and boiling oil on the rails above you.  Life was tough for medieval soldiers.  Enjoy the pictures
