SARLAT, FRANCE

We are in Sarlat, France.  Sarlat , is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Awuitaine in southwestern France.  The Dordogne river runs through this area of France.  Sarlat is a medieval town that developed around a large Benedictine abbey.  The medieval Sarlat Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Sacerdos.  Because modern history has largely passed it by, Sarlat has remained preserved and  one of the towns most representative of 14th century France.  The center of the old town consistes of well restored stone buildings and is largely car-free.

Here are some pics of Sarlat.
The street on which we are living this week. Our apartment is in the center, with arch over window.

This is the Foie Gras Capital of the world.  Foie Gras is the liver of Geese that have been force fed food that makes them have a fat livers. Not much of this in West Texas.

Outside the Cafe where we had lunch.

Homage to the Geese for the Foie Gras.
